German
There are about 100 million German speakers in the world. The German language is one of the most widely understood languages in Europe, where German speaking communities can be found mainly in Switzerland and Austria. Outside Europe, most German speakers can be found in the US, Brazil and Argentina.
The origins of the language can be traced from the Germanic branch of the Indo-European language family. Latin and Greek form the main source of German vocabulary and some words are derived from French and English. German is written using the Latin alphabet. In addition to the 26 standard letters, German has three vowels with umlauts (Ä/ä, Ö/ö, and Ü/ü) and the letter ß.
At International Language Academy, we offer 5 Modules of German language course, catering for novice to advanced speakers. Each Module is 20 hours in duration, typically conducted over 10 weeks. Our teachers are German native speakers and have extensive experience teaching the language to adult learners.
