Arabic
Arabic is the only surviving member of the Ancient North Arabian dialect group attested in pre-Islamic Arabic inscriptions dating back to the 4th century. Arabic is written with the Arabic alphabet, which is an abjad script and is written from right-to-left.
There are two main types of written Arabic:
Classical Arabic – the language of the Qur’an and classical literature. It differs from Modern Standard Arabic mainly in style and vocabulary, some of which is archaic. All Muslims are expected to recite the Qur’an in the original language, however many rely on translations in order to understand the text.
Modern Standard Arabic – the universal language of the Arabic-speaking world which is understood by all Arabic speakers. It is the language of the vast majority of written material and of formal TV shows, lectures, etc.
At International Language Academy we provide various levels of arabic conversational course – Basic, Intermediate and Advanced. Training materials are developed by our own teachers following years of teaching arabic in Singapore. A Certificate of Completion is awarded to students completing each stage of the course.
